Mrs. Punke has been teaching English for ten years, but this is her fifth year at North High School. She has lived and taught in Indiana, New Mexico, and Kentucky. Her bachelor's degree is from Purdue University, and her master's degree in creative writing is from Murray State University.

Utilizing a project-based approach to learning is her forte. Her favorite unit is her Poetry Slam, in which the students compose original poems, form teams, and perform their work in a competition.
